New Look

I've done some updating with the blog look. A new header, new navbar, new blog button, and hopefully a more efficient way of navigating the blog.

I have alot more of updating to do, lots of research is included. Any tips, suggestions, etc. are welcomed to improve the blog!

Here is the new blog button, I suggest if you have the old button, replace it, otherwise a photobucket bandwidth will be blotchy your sidebar soon...

I'll eventually figure out all the perks of having a .com instead of a .blogspot.com...once I do, I'll post them.

Right now, I see no difference, besides the pain of my followers gadget not working. I think I'm supposed to get an email for the website as well as other perks, but have no idea to access those things. If you've ever switched to a .com, let me in on some of the perks!

Take a look around, let me know what you think of the new look! Again, tips, suggestions, etc, are more than welcomed (please be nice). I'll try to take it all as professional criticism for improvement!

The Lucky Lees

Major changes have occurred in the past 3 weeks.

First, I'm MARRIED!
(Here is a sneak peek from the wedding, more photos coming soon once I get them from our photographer, this is just a tease!)

Second, the blog has some major changes coming soon. The first being that it now has it's own domain.
www.luckylees.com

with a new tittle too...The Lucky Lees...

I'm trying to figure out how to change the feeds so that you all still get your emails when I post. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know how to change the feed on feedburner.
Lots of pictures and posts to come in the future because I am back in full force now!

Pictures above are via Lindley Marie Photography and Modern Impressions Photography.

Pledge to be YOU!

Blogland is so unique and each person who is a part of it is unique as well. Pledge for these 2 campaigns and be a part of something special going on in blogland!

{stick with me through this post, it's a little text heavier than I usually do, but its well worth it}

AS A KIND-HEARTED BLOGGER I PLEDGE TO:

  • create, inspire, and admire rather than compete with fellow bloggers
  • be understanding of each other-- in the blogging community, as well as in the world
  • stay away from internet/blogging bullying
  • speak my opinion freely, while still being mindful of other's feelings-- be tactful.
  • make an effort--no matter how big or small the gesture, to spread kindness or joy to others
  • acknowledge that I will make mistakes, (I am only human) but remember to learn from them
  • know that at times I will post about the negative stuff in life, and maybe even some complaining (I am only human) but I will always follow up with something happy/positive too.
  • believe that this world is a good place, filled with good people.

    Photobucket

    "I solemnly swear to participate in as many hops and features here at FTLOB to grow my blogging experience but ultimately to gain amazing friends and good fellowship. I promise not to leave copy and pasted comments such as described in blogging tip #14 because I understand that it makes people feel uncomfortable, it's rude and I wouldn't want people doing that to my blog. I'm proud of my blog and being part of such a wonderful, loving community."

    I love seeing what other bloggers have to offer....

    here are a few of my confessions...

    when I started blogging, I was jealous of people who had more followers than me, which was almost everyone.

    I wanted to be the best blogger out there, so I learned alot about blogging and what not to do...

    Then I decided that linking up to EVERY linky I saw was not worth it, I realized that people don't want to read linky posts over and over again every day. Because I didn't want to read that either.

    I want to read amazing content, like how your day was, good or bad; what you ate for dinner: what you got at a garage sale; home improvement; and motivational posts {and of course so much more}

    I realized that I didn't want my readers to be bored, and I realized during my link up obsession days, that not a whole lot of people commented or followed me. I think I was stuck at 13 readers for 4 months or so...it's pretty pathetic that every post was about a new linky and I never had a real voice.

    So here I am, pledging to you, my readers and to myself.

    I NOW join linky parties because I love seeing what other people are linking up; not to compete with them.

    I'm motivated to write interesting and great content, to show my personality off, and to write about my life, because that is the purpose of this blog. I want to write things that my readers love to read, and can relate to.

    Life is not a competition, blogging shouldn't be either.

    People can be such bully's, judgemental and rude. I don't want any part in that. I don't want to see those kind of comments on my blog. God strictly tells us not to judge, or harshly criticize. I way too often see a blogger get disappointed, or apologize to their readers about what they wrote, because someone criticized them in their comment section. That to me is ridiculous.  I don't want to apologize for being honest, speaking my mind, and being a human being. I write because I want to, and if someone doesn't like it, they don't have to read it. They can judge all they want, they can try to bully me too, but God will take care of it all.

    Read the pledge again, and you'll understand what I'm getting at.

    I respect what each and every blogger has to offer, and YOU ALL offer some amazing things to my life! I've found something I love {since dropping out of college and becoming a homemaker}. Blogging has become something I LOVE!

    I'm encouraging YOU to take the pledge as well, if you're interested! I think its a great campaign, and I support it 100%

    Have a blessed day!

    {if you pledge as well, let Em Jay & Me, as well as FTLOB know in their comment sections. I would love to know if you pledge too. Leave a comment letting me know you joined!}

    What a great community we have out there! My favorite thing about blogging is that the blogging community works together for each other!

    Check out this site for creating world full of niceness...

    Stylish Blogger Award

    I have received a Stylish Blogger Award! ♥

    I know they've been going around alot lately, and I envied the people who received them. Now I have one for myself, and you can bet I'm gonna sport it on my sidebar! Oh-yeah!

    SJ from Homemaker on a Dime has so kindly awarded me! SO sweet. I posted yesterday about her and her blog! I LOVE YOU SJ! Thank you so much. If you haven't check her blog out DO IT NOW! She has some cute DIY projects that she's posted, and she has love for other bloggers. She is the host of Swap Followings! Thanks again SJ. ♥

    Here are the rules to receive this award:

    1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award.
    2. Share 7 things about yourself.
    3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers.
    4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award!

    7 things about myself:

    1. I'm getting married to my high school sweetheart on October 22, 2011. ♥ He is so precious to me, and I am so blessed!

    2. I love sweet tea.

    3. I love planning my wedding by myself!

    4. People say I'm a hermit crab and spend too much time by myself in our house. But, I'd rather stay home, than spend money. Don't get me wrong I love shopping, but I'm trying to be very minimalistic and I like to be home instead. I like to stay away from the drama. When I'm by myself, theres no drama.

    5. My 5 favorite restaurants are: PF Changs, Fogo de Chao, McAlisters, Salt Lick BBQ, Pappasitos.

    6. I quit school in April of 2010. I attended 4 universities, and changed my major 7 times all in 5 years. I lost my passion for teaching, and for getting a degree, and decided that I wanted to be a homemaker, and one day be a stay at home mom. I love my lifestyle that my husband-to-be supports, and I wouldn't want to live my life any other way. I only get to see B maybe a total of 1 week in each month. He has every other weekend off, but most of the time, he only has 3-5 days a month off. He chooses to work on his weekends off so that we can have a better life when he is home.

    7. I was once extremely selfish, self-centered, and I felt entitled to having a good life. I've always been thankful, but growing up, I took things for granted, including my now fiance'. I didn't realize how materialistic, judgemental, and conceited I was. I was always jealous of everyone who had more than me, and I always thought I was better than everyone else. I was also a control freak. Up until my brother went to rehab, and our family realized how we weren't living a life we loved, I was, well a horrible person on the inside. I was a believer of God, but I didn't know Him. I knew OF Him.

    Here are the 15 award recipients!

    1. Ashley at The Shine Project
    2. Brittany at The High Heeled Housewife
    3. Marcie at Don't Waste Your Homemaking
    4. Blooming-Mommy

    I ♥ BLOGGING

    I've been blog stalking lately! No surprise there, but I have some blogs that I want to share with ya'll. I love spreading the word about blogs I'm into and take part in link ups. I love when I see a new comment or a new follower, and I like to return the favor! Here is a spotlight for my top 6 blogs currently! I encourage you to check them out, follow them and leave a comment! It's time to love our fellow bloggers! {if you're here from the Swap Followings, Hi ♥, visit my about page! I'm so glad to have you!}
    Courtney, my friend from elementary school, who I've somehow managed to stay in touch with since then, just started her own blog, We Three Dyes! I am so excited that she has decided to join us blog addicts and share her life with us. She's catching on quickly and I have no doubt in my mind that she will be a successful blogger. She's already mentioned me in one of her blogs ♥ {I can't wait for her to get a button so I can sport it on my sidebar, I'm a button addict as well. I grabbed her header from her blog so I could post it as a picture for her! I'm a visual person!}
    I look forward to seeing her family grow through her blog. She has an adorable family with her daughter & husband. She just posted a recipe for Chocolate Eclair Squares that look to. die. for. I just added them to my recipe binder! Go check her out, follow her, and leave her a comment letting her know you came from here!

    I've recently joined Homemaker on a Dime. If you don't know about it, check it out! It's a great way to gain followers and friends in blogland! I love her Filing Cabinet morphed into a side table project. Seeing all of her 'Goodwill' projects, makes me want to head to our local resale shops right now and grab some steals from them. Last week, the hubbs-to-be and I were searching for a simple shelving system for our gap next to our stove and we found out that these shops had some pretty nice stuff. I was shocked at how much furniture one shop had. Once the middle of the month comes around, there's no doubt in my mind that I will be heading straight there! Go check out her $$ saving projects and here swap following!
    Little Miss Momma is one of my new favorite blogs to stalk. She has an adorable Etsy shop with some great accessories. She has a beautiful family too! She is constantly hosting giveaways, and I love them. She often has guest posts that show DIY projects {I'm a sucker for them}. She's honest, and doesn't have a problem with sharing her secrets on her blog, and her sister blog Sisterhood of Secrets. Go check her out, you will thank me later!

    Good Morning Girls is a Christian based site that I am so blessed to be a part of. GMG is hosted by two amazing women Courtney, of Women Living Well {another amazing blog}, and Angela of Dallas, TX. GMG is a group of women who gather online, or even in person and communicate about their quiet times with God. I am in a group called Giggles {Girls in God Growing Loving Encouraging Serving} and we communicate via Facebook. They also have a wonderful bible study going on with the Book of James. Check them out, follow them & let God's word spread!

    My all time favorite food blog, How Sweet It Is, has some pretty amazing recipes. Jessica loves bacon and chocolate, and even loves them when they're put together. Alot of her posts consist of her disgust of veggies and love of other foods. It was her version of beef bourguignon that I made. Some of my fave recipes of hers are: Oreo Balls, Orange-Coconut Cupcakes, Hot Cocoa Cookies, and Grilled Tomato Basil Chicken. You will start drooling as soon as you see her incredible food photography!

    Mrs. Tillery is a blogger that has been following me for a while now. I love reading what she shares and I love her homemaking journal! She just started a new blog Mrs. Tillery's Kitchen, where she will be posting recipes of all sorts! I love her Avocado Basil Pasta!

    Other blogs of importance in my life are on my sidebar! ------------------->>
    Visit them as well, see what they're sharing in blogland!
    Leave a comment, and follow them!

    The Blog Guidebook

    I was just recently introduced to a blog site called The Blog Guidebook. I found them through Don't Waste Your Homemaking, and A Crafty Southern  Chick. I have fallen in love with their site. There are so many things that I have learned through them. They have blog tutorials which have helped me out BIG TIME, in building my blog. Like the Blogging for Newbies page! This page has saved my life when it comes to figuring out things on my blog.

    They also have a categories area where bloggers from all of blogland are featured with their names or buttons. You can search blogs by these categories like, Just Life, or A Day in the Life of, and more! Great ways of finding new friends in blogland! They also have a Linky Party section where you can take a look at the linky parties going on in bloggyland daily, and monthly. If you link up with other bloggers on their linky party pages, you get to advertise your blog posts and get more blog lovin from it! Go check out their site RIGHT NOW!!! You won't regret it! Go BeeFriend them!

    God Bless,
